Free · Browser-based · Real opponents
Every good checkers player is thinking two jumps ahead.
Multiplayer Checkers puts you across the board from a real opponent, not a script. Same diagonal moves, same forced jumps, same quiet tension of watching someone else plan — just played out over the internet, instantly, in your browser.
What is Multiplayer Checkers?
Multiplayer Checkers is the online version of the traditional board game also known as draughts. Two players face off over the internet, each commanding twelve pieces, each trying to out-think the other one diagonal square at a time. Every piece moves forward only — until it earns the right not to.

How to play Multiplayer Checkers
The goal is simple to state and slower to master: capture every one of your opponent’s pieces, or trap them so they can’t move at all.
-
01
Set up the board
Each player starts with 12 pieces, placed on the dark squares only.
-
02
Move diagonally
Pieces move one square diagonally forward on your turn.
-
03
Jump to capture
If an opponent’s piece sits in your path with an open square behind it, jump it and take it off the board.
-
04
Chain your jumps
When several captures are lined up in a row, take them all in a single turn.
-
05
Crown a king
Reach the far edge of the board and that piece is crowned — now it can move forward and backward.
-
06
Win the board
Capture every opposing piece, or leave your opponent with no legal move, and the game is yours.
However you hold your device
Select a piece, then click its destination square.
Pick a piece up and drop it exactly where you want it.
On mobile, tap a piece, then tap the square you’re moving to.
Winning strategies worth remembering
Checkers rewards the player who’s thinking furthest ahead. A few habits separate a comfortable win from a costly mistake.
- Hold the center — it gives every piece more places to go.
- Keep your pieces close together so none of them stand alone.
- Make moves that box your opponent into a bad choice.
- When a multi-jump is on the table, take it.
- Push promising pieces toward the king row early.
Why play Multiplayer Checkers online?
A computer opponent plays the same handful of patterns every time. A person doesn’t. Playing online means every match brings a different read on the board, a different opening, a different idea of what “safe” looks like — which is what keeps the game worth returning to.
- Play people worldwide
- Sharpen real strategic thinking
- Quick matches, any time
- Straight from the browser
Tips for beginners
- Slow down — there’s no clock forcing your hand.
- Don’t leave a piece where a jump can reach it.
- Think two or three moves past the one you’re making.
- Pay attention to the shape your opponent is building.
- Play often; the pattern recognition comes with the reps.
